The capital of the country, Andorra la Vella is one of the seven parishes into which the Principality of Andorra is administratively divided. It is the smallest, yet most populated parish (population 24,574) and it has a total surface area of 30 km². This parish has three main town centres: Andorra la Vella, Santa Coloma and La Margineda. Andorra la Vella is the essential nerve centre of the country, housing the headquarters of the Government of Andorra, the central offices of all the banks of Andorra and the country’s main buildings, as well as those of national and international institutions and organisations.
