Ransol is part of the set of small villages in front of El Tarter sector of Grandvalira. Located at 1,726 meters of altitude on the sunny side of the mountain, it had an estimated population, at the end of 2017, of 192 inhabitants, according to data from the Department of Statistics of the Government of Andorra.
The village is reached by the main road (CG-2) going towards France, taking the exit at the roundabout just before the El Tarter parking lot. From there, the Ransol road begins to gently gain height until it reaches the village in just over 500 meters. A sufficient height to get away from the main traffic of the CG-2, improve the views towards the main valley and towards Grandvalira and breathe a residential, calm and sunny climate at the foot of the new Valley of Ransol located after the village.
The church of Sant Jaume de Ransol welcomes us the beginning of the village; on the other side, along the next 100 meters of the street , there is a set of houses and residential flats. At this point the street is divided into two. A section goes to the neighboring village of Els Plans de Ransol, which is the only access road to that village, while on the other side the road runs uphill parallel to and in the opposite direction to the riverbed of the Coma river, crossing the beautiful and spectacular natural environment of the Ransol Valley without arriving at any other population centre. The road ends at a starting point of different routes and mountain excursions (the most outstanding culminates in the Serrera Summit) and in a provisioning and ideal place to spend unforgettable moments with family, friends or as a couple enjoying the mountain.
The great virtue of Ransol is that you can enjoy, without having to travel too far, the set of sports activities offered by Grandvalira in both summer and winter, while enjoying the tranquility of a village far from the central area and from the greater tourist activity. It should be noted that Grandvalira is the largest ski area in the Pyrenees and, in recent years, has expanded its recreational sports offer to make it more attractive in summer. Thus, it also has a famous high-altitude golf course and a go-kart circuit designed by Marc Gené.
