Living in L'Aldosa de Canillo, a village in Grandvalira

Going up on the main road 2 (CG-2), between the villages of Canillo and El Tarter there is the small population centre of L'Aldosa de Canillo, with just over 200 inhabitants, according to the data collected by the Department of Statistics of Andorra at the end of 2017.

In order to differentiate it from the Andorran population of L'Aldosa, in the parish of La Massana, in 2010 the Nomenclator of Andorra approved adding the term “Canillo” to L'Aldosa de Canillo.

Located on the sunny side at 1,722 meters above the mountains that make up the great ski center of Grandvalira, L'Aldosa de Canillo is basically a residential complex of a single street that has its own main road (CG-2) to get to the village. From this point, L'Aldosa de Canillo road goes up and, after about 500 meters, it ends. The village is then far from the main traffic and surrounded by an ideal natural environment to live in a peaceful, natural and family atmosphere.

The highlights of L'Aldosa de Canillo

• The church of Sant Antoni of L'Aldosa de Canillo was built in the nineteenth century following models of Romanesque style. There is not much documentation about it. The mass that starts the day of the villages' popular festival is celebrated every year In this chapel.
• There are a couple of hiking trails in the area: El Camí del Gall and El Coll d'Arenes. The first is a pleasant walk of about 5.5 km that goes from Canillo to El Tarter. • Although there is no direct access to Grandvalira from the base of the village of L'Aldosa de Canillo, the sector of El Tarter is only 2 km away, and the Soldeu one, at 4 km. A short distance that will not prevent you from enjoying one of the most important ski areas in Andorra, where in recent years major international events have taken place and where the next World Cup Alpine Skiing Finale is already scheduled for 2019.
