Canillo is the central urban nucleus of the parish with the same name, a quiet, traditional and active village at the same time, which offers the quality of its facilities and infrastructure to residents and tourists. It can be accessed through the CG-2, leaving behind the neighboring parish of Encamp and entering the Valira d'Orient Valley. At the entrance there is the most emblematic building of Canillo, the 'Palau de Gel' of Andorra, and just behind it, the most residential area, where the Andorran and French elementary schools are located, and a beautiful park, where the little ones can be entertained, can be found.
Another infrastructure that brings more notoriety to the town of Canillo is the cable-car, on the other side of the river and of the main road, wihch gives direct access to a ski center in winter, Grandvalira, and a recreation and and mountain activities centre in summer, the Mon(t) Magic: Canillo's Family Park, which makes it an attractive place both to live as a resident and to visit on vacation.
There are two other roads that leave from Canillo, apart from the aforementioned main road, which are very interesting as escape routes from the urban center. The Montaup road, which connects with the Coll d'Ordino road, thus joining both towns, and, on the other side of the valley, the Forn road, which is, when the weather is fine, the alternative to the Canillo cable-car.
